Tuition
We nurture an enjoyment of learning through a wide range of engaging and personalized activities, utilizing both the indoor and outdoor spaces we have on offer at Jane Montessori, as well as making the most of the rich learning experiences our locality provides us with.
All of this is done through a carefully planned balance of adult led and child-initiated learning, allowing children to develop core academic skills, personal qualities and a positive and confident attitude towards learning.
The early Year education is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which incorporates:
• Communication and language
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Physical development
• Mathematics, literacy, expressive art and design and understanding the world.
Our modern foreign language curriculum begins in Pre-Reception with the children taking part in weekly French lessons that link to their class topics, making learning relevant and engaging.
From Pre-Reception, children have dedicated weekly lessons in music and sports and creative arts with specialist teachers. At Reception this expands to include weekly lessons and dedicated time in our specialist learning space.
Outdoor learning, come rain or shine, is an integral part of daily life at Jane Montessori, with our children making the most of our diverse lessons.
Children have independent access to a wide range of materials and media. Each day provides a carefully planned mix of whole class, small group and individual adult-led sessions, as well as self-directed learning time which allows children to explore their own fascinations.
